Abstract

With the increase in CPU and GPU power, more and more servers require liquid cooling. Some newer data centers have been designed with the ability to only cool with liquid. High density HDD storage enclosures, though, have only been designed for air cooling. In addition, it may be possible to cool HDDs to lower temperatures with liquid cooling and at the same time significantly reducing acoustic generation, as no, or smaller, fans would be needed to cool the enclosure. This paper looks at ways a high-density HDD storage enclosure can be liquid cooled.
