Abstract

A system, such as a head-mounted device, may include an eye tracking subsystem configured to determine a user's cornea position by analyzing specular reflections (i.e., glints) from light sources of the system, which are directed at the user’s eye and captured by a camera of the system. This disclosure describes a software-based method to configure the system to accurately match bright specular reflections in an image to the specific light sources that created them. To achieve this, the algorithm calculates candidate cornea center locations based on the image reflections and determines the most probable center from these accumulated candidates. This approach allows the system to efficiently assign the reflections to their true light sources while bypassing the need for exhaustive combinatorial testing.
