Abstract
Two-stage sequential turbocharger layouts are often preferred for increased pressure ratio and flow range requirements. Prior-art solutions using combination of axial and radial stages use a complex shaft design or horizontally split casing deviating from existing assembly process and increasing cost. The proposed invention discloses a two-stage sequential turbine having a two-shaft design wherein the two axial turbines are joined by a threaded connection.
