Abstract
Thermal management of battery systems plays critical role in refrigerant-based vehicle cooling systems. Although scroll compressors remain dominant choice of the industry, they pose significant challenges in terms of lower coefficient of performance and higher NVH (noise / vibrations) especially for cooling needs above 20KW. The proposed solution discloses an innovative compact electrical centrifugal compressor that offers significant reduction in size, oil free high-speed operation, and reduced NVH.
