Abstract
Thread connections are critical components in drill strings and drilling tools. Constant demand for higher performance requires increasing torque transmission capabilities of these thread connections. If the thread is unable to transmit the applied torques, various failure mechanisms may occur. In case of total failure of the connection and a twist-off, the BHA needs to be replaced leading to non-productive time (NPT).
