Abstract

Abstract

Infertility is a significant global health challenge, driving interest in natural and ethnomedicinal remedies. Durio zibethinus (durian), traditionally used in Southeast Asia for reproductive health, was scientifically evaluated in this study to validate its fertility-enhancing potential.A Homoeopathic mother tincture of Durio zibethinus was prepared using the standard maceration method from ethically sourced ripe fruits collected from tribal regions. Preliminary phytochemical screening and biochemical assays confirmed the presence of key bioactive compounds, particularly tryptophan, a precursor to serotonin and melatonin—hormones that influence reproductive cycles and fertility. Phytochemical analysis revealed a broad spectrum of compounds which provide a biochemical rationale for the traditional use of Durio zibethinus as a fertility enhancer.

Methods / Preparation

1. Collection : Ripe Durio zibethinus fruits were sourced ethically from tribal areas following traditional knowledge guidelines.

2. Mother Tincture Preparation : Standard Homoeopathic mother tincture preparation procedure was followed.

3. Preliminary Testing : Tryptophan and Phytochemical Screening was done

Key Findings and Results

1. Phytochemical screening confirmed the presence of multiple bioactive compounds: flavonoids, tannins, saponins, glycosides, steroids, and phenols.

2. Tryptophan estimation suggests potential fertility-enhancing activity.

3. The results are preliminary, aimed to establish proof of discovery and the scientific basis for developing a new Homoeopathic preparation.Detailed quantitative and pharmacological studies are underway and will be published in peer-reviewed journals.

Conclusion

This research represents the first attempt to introduce Durio zibethinus into Homoeopathic research through experimental preparation and preliminary validation of its mother tincture. The drug is not documented in the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of India (HPI) or existing Materia Medica. Findings establish a scientific foundation for further pharmacological and clinical studies, supporting proof of discovery and authorship of this novel Homoeopathic preparation. This discovery strengthens the integration of ethnomedicinal wisdom with modern Homoeopathic research, contributing to scientific advancement and Homoeopathic research.

Comments to the author

This disclosure establishes authorship, priority, and originality of discovery for Durio zibethinus as a potential new Homoeopathic preparation.
