Abstract
The present disclosure provides a method and a system for controlling the inactivity of a payment card across various transaction modes. The method comprises storing a last activity date corresponding to each of the transaction modes associated with the payment card. The transaction modes includes a point of sale (POS) mode, an online mode, and a recurring payment mode. The transaction data, which is indicative of the usage of the payment card in the transaction modes, is received. The last activity date for each of the transaction modes is updated based on the transaction data. An inactivity duration for each of the transaction modes is determined by comparing the last activity date with configurable inactivity threshold corresponding to the transaction mode. The transaction mode of the payment card is automatically disabled when the inactivity duration exceeds the corresponding inactivity threshold, while maintaining the other transaction modes in the enabled state.
