Abstract
Modern “while drilling” tools get enabled by command once they are downhole and after this enabling, they start their operation autonomous. The parameter for enabling the autonomous mode is stored nonvolatile inside the downhole tool. This ensures autonomous operation after each power cycle, which can happen in a drilling condition every 30 meters when a new segment of the drill string must be connected.
