Abstract
To adapt the hole size of gamma density drilling tools a so-called fluid displacer is required to provide known material in-between the gamma rays and the gamma detectors. In addition to the insert of the tool, a so-called emergency transport shield could also be designed with a similar approach. Nowadays the shields are designed for individual tools (fit for purpose). By using inserts for different hole sizes, a general basic shield could be designed and by using the insert it could be adopted to other tool / hole sizes.
