Abstract
A method is described for establishing intact rock grain size, elemental data and mineral information using algorithm on raw XRF spectra data. The method involves the following steps: acquiring an around 2 mm deep fluorescence spectrum scan of the sample (e.g. a rock core sample) and extracting spectra data from scan lines and obtain the elemental information, minerals and estimating the grain size from the extracted spectra data.
The benefits of this workflow include,
Chemical composition and grain size distribution of intact samples
Sample remains usable for other laboratory analysis.
Faster procedure requires no special sample preparation.
