Abstract

HNB products gains popularity in smokers because of its reduced risk from the hazard constituents in the aerosol generated from HTPs than conventional combustion smoking. However, the HNB aerosol still contains significant amount of carbonyl compounds such as formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, which is highly hazard to human health. Therefore, there is a need to further reduce these hazardous constituents in the aerosol. Here we propose use the carbon loaded CelFX rod as a filtration & cooling plug upstream to the mouthpiece filter for HNB article. The proposed HNB article is composed of Acetate mouthpiece filter, Carbon loaded CelFX plug cooling segment, Tobacco substrate and Acetate Front Plug. The proposed Carbon loaded Plug has low pressure drop yet provide sturdy support for Tobacco substrate, it helps to removal carbonyl compounds from the aerosol and cooling the aerosol as the aerosol flows through the Caron loaded CelFx plug and mouthpiece filter to the consumer.
