Abstract

Digital map applications may not adequately account for real-time conditions when performing destination search. Further, digital map applications lack collaboration functionality that enables multiple users to specify constraints to identify a destination that works for a group. This document describes techniques for visualizing travel time to multiple destinations on a digital map. The visualization includes multiple color-coded zones reachable from the user's current location within specific time periods. A user can adjust a slider to view zones based on travel times at different times of the day. The techniques can be used to find a destination that is convenient for multiple users, and to enable users to view each other's travel progress in real time. Users can leverage this functionality when searching collaboratively. Overlapping zones with similar travel time for different users are marked as the optimum zones for meeting. Users can share their real-time location and view the progress of each user's travel along the respective route.
