Abstract
Aspects and implementations of the present disclosure provide systems that keep a live media session running even if the devices providing the live media for the session become disconnected from the session. The systems keep the viewers of the live media session informed about the status of the live media session and provide an expectation that the live media will resume. In one example, a host device can provide continuity content (e.g., videos or images) to a server, the server can periodically determine if the host device has unexpectedly disconnected from the live media session, and if so, the server can cause one or more devices viewing the live media session to present the continuity content until the host device reconnects and resumes providing live media to the session.
