Abstract

This disclosure describes a spring finger gasket with ultra-low compression forces. The spring finger gasket can be utilized to provide shielding for electronic components. The spring finger gasket design features a continuous line of contact on its sides and includes slots at the bending region. To minimize leakage of radiation, the distance between slots is designed based on the frequencies of interest. The spring finger gasket includes a spring finger subpart and a fence subpart. The spring finger fence subpart can be made from stainless steel while the fence subpart can be made from an alloy that is more suitable for soldering. The two part design allows greater flexibility for height and angle tuning of the spring fingers. Placement efficiency of the board is improved by including an undercut. The fence design also enables a direct thermal interface of a system on a chip (SOC) to a heatsink.
