Abstract
For current vehicle/navigation systems, an optimized/best route can be suggested for a desired user destination based on many criteria, such as distance, traffic, etc. However, such routing often does not consider real time factors that may be present for streets, such as the presence of streetlights and their working or operating conditions. In order to address such issues, proposed herein are techniques through which vehicle navigation systems may be enhanced to determine an optimal route for a given destination based on one or more safety features, such as streetlight availability and streetlight operating conditions, for night driving scenarios.
