Abstract

A media streaming device may be connected to (e.g., plugged into) a television, which allows a user to stream media content (also referred to as programs, media content items, or content) to the television device. The media streaming device may be a dongle, a stick, or other device that is connected to a television device to enable the television device to stream media content from one or more streaming platforms. The media streaming device includes one or more processors, and one or more storage devices that store an operating system, applications, downloaded content, and/or temporary data. The media streaming device also includes network connectivity circuitry that enables internet connectivity and/or other devices via other short range communication technologies. The media streaming device includes one or more ports (e.g., a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI)) that connects to the television device, and, in some examples, one or more other devices such as an external sound system.
