Abstract
As the global energy crisis continues to rise, there is a growing need for innovation that can help optimize the energy consumption. For example, within the realm of office environments, there can be a number of Internet Protocol (IP) phones that may be powered on during business hours, regardless of whether or not users are present to use the phones, which can result large power consumption in such environments. Presented herein are techniques that can leverage existing infrastructure in order to automatically power IP phones on or off depending on user presence. Such techniques may help to reduce power consumption of IP phones in various environments.
