Abstract
A can processing system for a can body includes a support for supporting a can body and a texturing roll. The texturing roll includes a roll surface with a micro-texture on at least a portion of the roll surface. The micro-texture includes microscopic asperities, peaks, and/or valleys, and the can processing system may texture a surface of a side wall of the can body with the micro-texture by contacting the roll surface with the surface of the side wall of the can body. A method of processing a can body includes supporting the can body on the support and micro-texturing the surface of the side wall by contacting the roll surface of the texturing roll with the surface of the side wall of the can body. A can body formed with such a process may include the micro-texture forming a pattern, logo, or other feature on the side wall.
