Abstract
This article describes a novel concept that integrates a camera with a vibration sensor and a specialized telesitting software application. The innovative camera design conceals the lens behind an automatic lens cover and keeps the microphone turned off by default. The vibration sensor activates the lens cover and microphone, enabling the camera to capture images and environmental audio only during potentially hazardous situations. This feature contrasts with traditional web cameras used in telesitting applications, which often remain active and raise privacy concerns. The proposed solution enhances privacy in remote healthcare services, particularly for monitoring patients outside of healthcare facilities.
