Abstract
The present disclosure relates to layer 0 (i.e., photonic, optical, Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM), etc.) restoration in a disaggregated network (i.e., limited communications between nodes and within nodes). This includes a nodal level controller approach with pre-programmed or dynamically selecting degree switches based on locally detected faults affecting a photonic service on transmit or receive direction, or both that effectively provides a network level mesh-restoration to photonic fiber-faults or hardware damages. Of note, disaggregated network configurations are growing in optical networks, and the present disclosure provides a fast and efficient mechanism to support restoration therewith.
