Abstract
The present disclosure relates to improved reliability and survivability in coherent-based optical networks. Specifically, there is closed-loop interaction between a network management platform and transceivers to enable quicker restoration. There is coordination between orchestration software, a Network Management System (NMS), and transceivers providing a better user experience to improve the speed of restoration in case of fiber cut, equipment failure, and the like. There is a determination of what parameters are needed to perform orchestration and these parameters are stored in a receiver/transmitter database in order to improved the survivability (and the meeting of restoration time Service Layer Agreements (SLAs)). One application includes automation in a network with Optical Protection Switching (OPS).
