This disclosure describes techniques to automatically map rectifiers deployed in data center racks to their corresponding AC phases. Per techniques of this disclosure, rectifier AC phase mappings are determined actively by periodically deactivating and activating a rectifier, and observing the effects on respective phases of a three-phase supply connected to the rack where the rectifier is deployed. The rectifier is cycled through periodic deactivation and activation. Current series data for each phase of the three-phase power supply are obtained. Frequency components of the frequency used for actuation of the rectifier are recovered by applying a bandpass filter to the current series data or by processing the current series data in the frequency domain via a fast Fourier transform. Phase mapping of a rectifier is performed based on matching current load fluctuations in each phase to the deactivation and activation cycles of the rectifier.
