Abstract

Within a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) fifth-generation (5G) environment, in the event of a failure in a core network a prime approach of any operator is to provide seamless service to a subscriber. Techniques are presented herein that support the delivery of seamless service to a subscriber in the event of such a failure. The presented techniques provide a mechanism for reconciling subscriber usage in an automated way without the need for a propriety solution, which becomes difficult when a Session Management Function (SMF) and a Charging Function (CHF) are provided by different vendors, thus raising an interoperability challenge.
