Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a method and a system for managing continuing customer consent throughout the lifecycle of recurring payment relationships. The present disclosure suggests utilizing recurring payment relationship information already maintained within a payment-network recurring payment management platform and creating a continuing consent profile for each recurring payment relationship. After creating the profile, the present disclosure suggests a consent review rule engine that evaluates billing frequency rules, consent protection status, customer-selected protection modes, and merchant-specific preferences to determine when a review threshold is reached. Thereafter, the present disclosure suggests generating a continuing consent review alert delivered through issuer channels integrated with the platform. Subsequently, the customer may continue, modify, or cancel the recurring payment relationship, cancellations being processed through existing recurring-payment cancellation services so that future recurring payment authorizations are prevented, while non-responses are recorded without disrupting service. The disclosure transforms recurring payment authorization from a static one-time consent model into a dynamic continuing-consent governance framework that provides centralized, network-level consent management across recurring payment relationships from multiple merchants.
