Abstract
The disclosure relates to audio processing techniques for improving audio presentation during content playback. A device can analyze an upcoming portion of audio using a look-ahead window to detect a transition signature associated with a sudden increase in volume level and, in response, apply a temporary gain reduction before the device outputs the audio. The device can release the gain reduction when the higher-volume portion ends or the audio returns toward a previous level. The device can also provide the same program audio concurrently to multiple audio devices connected through wired or wireless connections using separate audio paths. The device can separately apply volume and equalization settings to the respective audio paths, and a synchronization buffer can account for latency differences between the connected audio devices.
