Abstract
A media selection system determines an amount of time available to a user for consuming media content and identifies media items that can be consumed within the available time. The available time can be provided by the user or determined based on a scheduled activity or an expected trip duration and can include a configurable time buffer. For a media item that the user has already started consuming, the system can determine a remaining duration based on a playback position and identify the media item when the remaining duration fits within the available time. The system can provide recommendations from different content sources and for different types of media based on the available time.
