Abstract
Traditional centrifugal compressors utilize fixed-geometry diffusers that are optimized for a single operational design point, leading to reduced aerodynamic efficiency under off-design flow conditions and varying pressure ratios. Mechanical variable-geometry alternatives introduce complex linkages, actuators, and sealing vulnerabilities. This proposed solution discloses a compressor configuration that utilizes controllable fluid pressure within an integrated coolant circuit to actively or passively deform a flexible seal plate. By dynamically modulating the coolant circuit pressure, the diffuser channel width and geometric profile can be altered seamlessly to maximize aerodynamic and thermal exchange efficiency without external mechanical moving parts.
