Abstract
A smart cable monitoring system detects cable coiling conditions before cable degradation occurs. The system utilizes dedicated sensing conductors integrated within the cable to monitor changes in coupling characteristics caused by cable geometry variations. By comparing the measured sensing signature against a baseline condition, the system can identify prolonged coiled states and provide user feedback or preventive actions. Thermal sensing may also be incorporated to improve detection robustness and support cable health assessment.
