Abstract

The present technical disclosure relates to a plant and a process for producing liquid hydrocarbons starting from natural gas and/or other gaseous carbon sources. The liquid hydrocarbons production plant comprises an electrically heated steam methane reforming reactor (e-SMR), for the conversion of the carbon sources into synthesis gas. The plant further comprises synthesis gas composition adjustment section arranged downstream of the e-SMR and configured to adjust the composition of the synthesis gas stream, thereby providing an adjusted synthesis gas stream suitable for hydrocarbon synthesis, and an hydrocarbon synthesis unit configured to convert at least part of the adjusted synthesis gas stream into at least one hydrocarbon stream comprising hydrocarbons that are non-gaseous at ambient conditions and an off-gas stream configured to at least partially recycled to the e-SMR.
