Abstract

Text character recognition within visual streams from head-mounted displays is impacted by data transmission constraints and low electrical capacities. Visual data is captured at a default baseline rate (e.g., of one frame per second) to manage data traffic. An image pyramid structure comprising a full-resolution monochrome representation and downscaled color representations is maintained within an image signal processing pipeline. Cooperative processing logic on a paired device determines when context demands greater detail, triggering a transition to the fullresolution monochrome layer. Data transmission volume and power usage are reduced while character recognition processing is sustained.
