Abstract
Optimum lubrication in various operating conditions is crucial for achieving high efficiency and reliable performance in electric powertrains. The existing solution of having a single cooling circuit for motor and gearbox and using a coolant pump poses challenges in proper oil draining of the oil back to the gearbox oil sump especially in tilting conditions. The proposed innovative solution uses rotor itself as pump with an inlet suction placed at the bottom of the non-drive end of the electric motor oil sump.
