Abstract
The DeepBlue protocol sentry is an on-vessel signal-discrimination independent layer that filters high-frequency NMEA telemetry streams into compact, information-dense feature vectors. Unlike AIS broadcasts, rather than transmitting all raw sensor data (which is bandwidth-expensive and mostly redundant), it:
- Normalizes raw NMEA sentences across GPS, propulsion, environmental sensors
- Derives features (fuel consumption, course/speed changes, propulsion efficiency drift, loitering detection) over rolling 1-5 min windows
- Scores materiality — only flags features that deviate from the vessel's own baseline
- Assembles vectors of tens-to-hundreds bytes for transmission over satellite/mesh uplinks
The key insight: filter redundancy at source before transmission, not downstream. It's a companion to the previously published DeepBlue Protocol.
