Abstract
This article describes a multi-material floating seal system for vehicle charging port light rings designed to compensate for assembly tolerances. The system comprises a rigid primary housing, a flexible intermediate seal with a bellows-like 'V' profile, and a rigid retention ring with snap features. By snapping directly onto the charging inlet, the intermediate seal allows the assembly to 'float' relative to the vehicle body, ensuring consistent fit-and-finish and a robust barrier against water and debris across three axes of variation.
