Abstract
A merchandise security device is provided. The merchandise security device may include a security device configured to be attached to an item of merchandise for protecting the item of merchandise from theft. The security device is configured to collect data resulting from interaction between the item of merchandise and a consumer. The security system also includes an electronic key configured to communicate with the security device and to receive the data collected by the security device.
