Abstract
Smart glasses include built-in batteries that need periodic recharging. Charging interfaces such as a USB port or charging pins in the temple or spring levers in a charging case add to the device weight and impact the usability and aesthetic appeal of smart glasses. This document describes a magnetic charging dock interface for smart glasses. The design places fixed charging contacts under the nose bridge of the glasses. Magnets are provided on the nose bridge and corresponding magnets are provided in a charging case. The magnetic elements can use a multi-pole configuration or a Halbach array. When the smart glasses are placed in the charging case, pogo pins in the charging case contact the charging contacts under the nose bridge. This interface avoids visible ports or plugs on the external frame, maintaining the aesthetic of conventional eyewear.
