Abstract
A system is provided to ensure passenger safety during the boarding and departing phases of a vehicle trip, particularly for rideshare and fleet applications. The system allows a passenger to pre-configure safety preferences—such as seat belt fastening delays, sensor-based confirmation of occupancy, and departure clearance buffers—via a mobile application. These preferences are communicated to the vehicle and driver, potentially influencing the ride-matching process. The system further manages vehicle motion post-egress by enforcing delays, distance-based clearance verification via external sensors, and restricted vehicle performance (acceleration/noise) for an initial travel segment to protect the departing pedestrian.
