Abstract
Digital music aids for individual performers can lead to desynchronization and fragmented views when used in a group setting, as each musician may see their part in isolation. This disclosure describes systems and methods for a synchronized, multi-user musical performance environment. A shared session state, including an authoritative playback position, can be maintained across multiple participant computing devices, for example, smartphones, tablets, wearable devices, or augmented reality glasses. A composite user interface on each device can concurrently display various forms of musical information, such as lyrics and instrument-specific notation, in a scrolling format against a fixed temporal marker. This can establish a consistent timeline for participants, providing a unified, real-time reference. Such a system can facilitate cohesive group practice and performance by helping to mitigate issues of desynchronization that may arise when performers use non-networked applications.
