Abstract

This publication describes an innovative approach for establishing sea earth connections for cable landing stations. It focuses on enhancing High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes used in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) to function as anodes, thereby providing a dual-purpose solution for housing submarine cables and serving as a robust system earth. This method offers a long-term, reliable design that can replace traditional sea earth techniques, particularly in scenarios where environmental or logistical constraints make conventional methods unfeasible or costly. Key aspects include material modification, electrical potential for sacrificial anode design, and integration with HDD technology.
