Abstract
A portable computer system both operates in USB-C Extended Power Range mode regardless of the system power state and satisfies ES9 Energy Star requirements through use of a user-defined Vendor ID EPR Mode protocol that, once the EPR mode is established, does not utilize periodic communications signals and thus reduces power consumption in EPR mode.
