Abstract

Cyber security for operational technology (OT) systems, such as electrical substations, is required by regulations and international standards covering critical infrastructure sectors (e.g., energy sector). Conventional techniques for security configuration in substation automation systems and networks rely on manual processes that fail to provide the agility and programmability needed in digital substations. To address the challenges associated with manual security configuration, the techniques presented herein provide a fully automated approach to configure network security controls for substation automation systems and networks using domain specific data models.
