Abstract
This disclosure relates to media size detection in printers, particularly when the input tray is located at the bottom of the printer. Conventional implementations often detect media size by sensing the position of the width adjustor, sometimes through the angular position of a gear linking the left and right adjustors. In removable trays, adding electronics directly to the tray is costly due to the expense of providing a reliable connection to the printer’s main printed circuit assembly (MPCA).
