Abstract
The invention targets tools measuring back scattered neutrons, e.g. thermal or epithermal neutron porosity tools.
The response of neutron tools is heavily affected by drilling fluid in the borehole annulus, a mitigation of borehole fluid effects is challenging for very large bore holes and standoffs. Fluid displacers with large thicknesses of steel in large boreholes also affect neutron count rates.
