Abstract
Proposed herein are techniques that provide for the ability to overcome the status quo of accessibility versus performance regarding utilization of Web Graphics Library (WebGL™) applications to facilitate screen reader support for such applications. Broadly, the proposed techniques provide a dynamic mapping framework that tightly manages Document Object Management (DOM) elements to represent interactive items within a WebGL-rendered topology diagram that eliminates the need for a 1:1 relationship between interactive WebGL elements and static DOM elements, which is a common source of performance degradation in accessible web applications. The proposed techniques may improve accessibility for networking diagrams and may also provide screen reader support that no other WebGL-based diagram tooling applications currently offer.
