Abstract
The system employs an intuitive visualization which enables easy and repeatable interpretation of the complex relationship between drilling parameters, drilling performance, and vibration/stick slip (VSS). The visualization uses 2D stability maps which display these results in a simple to interpret color coding system and a mechanism for automated exploration for parameters sets (weight on bit (WOB) and rotary speed (RPM)) and automatically identifies the optimal operating point.
This allows for a balanced approach to drilling optimization where rate of penetration (ROP) and VSS mitigation are combined to optimize overall drilling performance which will reduce downtime and maintenance related costs while maintaining higher ROPs.
