Abstract
Commercially available downhole connectors (e.g. Micro-D , or Micro Strip connectors) have reliability issues. Test data show that the problems can be strongly mitigated by using a silicone instead of the standard epoxy coating. However, this silicone potting does not exert enough mechanical force to reliably hold the individual pins of the connector.
