Abstract
In many contexts, users are required to fill in forms to provide their information. When a large amount of data is to be entered, the forms can be complex, multi-step data entry tasks. It is difficult for users to determine their overall progress through such a form as well as portions of the form that are still incomplete. This disclosure describes a user interface that divides the data entry task into multiple sections. Each section is configurable and includes a small, manageable set of steps. Progress in each section is indicated visually via a section-specific progress bar. Overall progress is indicated by a set of section-specific progress bars. Colors, icons, and other visual attributes are selected to enable a user to determine their progress at a glance. The user interface can be customized based on modality, e.g., a rounded interface for wearable devices, an interface with 3D elements for augmented reality, etc. The user interface can be utilized in any data entry context.
