Abstract

This publication describes systems and techniques to adjust a local high brightness mode (LHBM) of a portion of a touch-screen display responsive to an on-pixel ratio (OPR) of the display. In some aspects, the display driver may determine a current OPR range of one or more OPR ranges that includes the display OPR and then alter the LHBM brightness by a predetermined adjustment factor associated with the current OPR range. Adjustment of the LHBM brightness according to one or more adjustment factors allows the LHBM to provide adequate illumination for fingerprint authentication at different OPRs to maintain a low fingerprint authentication failure rate while avoiding flicker or other visual effects that may result from activating LHBM.
