Abstract
A recycling system for metal scrap includes one or more processing stations for performing various recycling processes. One or more processing stations for the non-ferrous metal scrap includes one or more magnet devices that impart a varying magnetic field on the non-ferrous metal scrap for heating the non-ferrous metal scrap and/or imparting a non-contact force on the non-ferrous metal scrap. In some cases, the one or more processing stations with the one or more magnet devices are upstream from a furnace of the recycling system used to charge the non-ferrous metal scrap. Examples of the processing stations with magnet devices include, but are not limited to, a shredder and/or a heater of the recycling system.
