Abstract
The hemostatic properties of ellagic acid and its derivatives have been known for decades, but there has been little commercialization of hemostatic agents, dressings or gauzes containing the material. We used the material and its derivatives in the preparation of various different hemostatic agents, dressings and gauzes, including combining with other known hemostatic materials, and tested these in-vitro. The use of ellagic acid or its derivatives produced superior hemostasis compared to similar devices produced without the material. These devices are worthy of further investigation and potential commercialization.
