Abstract

A smart television (TV) can connect to the internet by way of a network (e.g., an Ethernet connection and/or a WiFi connection). A smart TV can include one or more computing devices (e.g., processors) and storage devices (e.g., memory devices). A smart TV can include or host applications for media content providers that can stream audio and/or video content for presenting to the user watching the smart TV. A smart TV can support the use of additional devices such as cameras, remote controls, sensors, etc., for interacting with the smart TV and the host applications. In some implementations, these additional devices may be peripheral devices that interface with the smart TV. In some implementations, these additional devices (e.g., a camera and/or sensor) may be integrated with or part of the smart TV. The smart TV can interface with these additional devices extending the use of the smart TV to support additional services and features. The smart TV can include a preloaded operating system that can provide a graphical user interface (GUI) for interacting with the smart TV and the additional devices, and for interfacing with the hosted applications.
